The office of the Finnish Startup Community is strengthened with the experienced Maija Lindeman, who focuses on administrative and member matters. Lindeman’s key tasks are the development of the member experience and member acquisition.

The Finnish Startup Community, founded in 2021, representing 150 Finnish startups and growth companies, is strengthening its operations. Maija Lindeman, who started as the new community and membership manager in August, is a long-time organization professional. She has expertise in e.g. the development of community and member experience, membership management and member acquisition.

Strengthening the Community

Lindeman has previously worked in similar positions at Trade Union Pro and Tradenomiliitto, the trade union for business and technology professionals. By education, Lindeman is a Bachelor of Business Administration. In addition, she has completed the basic studies of service design at the University of Lapland.

The most important tasks for Lindeman are membership management and member services, developing the member experience and related processes, promoting community and members’ networking opportunities, and organizing various events. In addition, Lindeman is responsible for membership acquisition and other administration. “We are happy to have an experienced organization professional in our team,” says Riikka Pakarinen, CEO of the Finnish startup community. “Member affairs and strengthening the community are at the core of our activities in the near future.”

Peer-to-peer support is valuable

In her new position, Lindeman wants to support the membership activities regardless of the location and create a sense of community outside the Helsinki capital region as well. “In startups, people solve very similar problems, so peer support in the face of challenges is very valuable,” reminds Lindeman. “Our goal is to strengthen the networking opportunities offered by the community, peer learning and sense of community throughout Finland.” Lindeman strives for the community to grow and continue to operate without prejudice, just like its members. “Our goal is to bring in companies from new locations and increase our number of members to two hundred,” says Lindeman.
