The Finnish Startup Community launches an open feedback portal, where anyone active in Finland’s startup ecosystem can openly share feedback and personal experiences about how the Finnish startup system functions.
The portal is primarily aimed at startup founders, employees, immigrants, investors, and other ecosystem participants. All feedback is publicly visible and will directly guide the Finnish Startup Community’s policies and advocacy efforts.
“This is a groundbreaking opportunity to improve problem areas through direct, visible, and public feedback. For example, we want to hear from startup entrepreneurs and their employees about their own experiences, whether these are fixable problems or positive highlights of the ecosystem’s functionality. We will use all feedback to promote a better, faster, and fairer startup ecosystem”, says Riikka Pakarinen, CEO of the Finnish Startup Community.
The portal gathers anonymous, concrete examples of friction points in Finland’s startup ecosystem, such as issues with the banking sector, obtaining IDs, permit processes, immigration, bureaucratic funding rules, difficulties with public procurement, R&D support, or attracting talent.
“In addition to reporting problems, we encourage people to also provide feedback on working practices and positive personal experiences. This way we can scale up good practices”, emphasizes Amir Hassan, economist at the Finnish Startup Community and one of the builders of the system.
“A similar feedback portal has already been successfully launched in Portugal, where it has collected hundreds of comments on the country’s problem areas. These issues have gained significant attention from the media and policymakers, including members of the European Parliament. We believe in the effectiveness of an open public feedback portal”, adds Hassan.
“All related discussions and feedback are visible to everyone. This creates an opportunity for decision-makers and the media to directly view the experiences and feedback of ecosystem actors. The portal allows problems and solutions to be examined collectively in one place”, concludes Riikka Pakarinen.
How the feedback portal works, in short:
- Portal address: https://finnishstartupcommunity.featurebase.app
- The Finnish Startup Community invites startup founders and employees to share their experiences about the startup ecosystem anonymously.
- Messages sent anonymously will be publicly visible to all. You can also upvote others’ comments if you agree with them.
- The portal is moderated by the Finnish Startup Community so that feedback remains relevant to the topic. Personal data is not allowed.
- The Finnish Startup Community compiles themes and evidence emerging from the feedback, which can then be forwarded to relevant stakeholders such as ministries, agencies, banks, cities, and other partners.
- The Finnish Startup Community does not disclose, share, or display the personal data of those giving feedback.
